UNIZIK Expels Student Over Assault on Lecturer

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has expelled a third-year student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, for physically assaulting a lecturer, Dr. Chukwudi Okoye. The altercation occurred at the Faculty of Arts when Okoye, a Theatre Arts lecturer, inadvertently walked into Mbakwe’s TikTok recording and tapped her while saying, “excuse me.” The student reacted aggressively, accusing him of hitting her. Viral videos captured the incident escalating into a heated confrontation, with Mbakwe grabbing Okoye, tearing his clothes, and refusing to delete the video despite his request. The lecturer, who appeared composed throughout, did not retaliate. Following investigations, the university found Mbakwe’s actions unacceptable and expelled her, reinforcing its stance on discipline and respect within the academic environment.
